1. The Electronic Payments Network is an electronic automated clearing house that provides functions similar to those provided by Federal Reserve Banks. The Electronic Payments Network is the only private-sector ACH operator in the United States.
2. A metropolitan area network is a network that interconnects users with computer resources in a geographic area or region larger than that covered by even a large local area network but smaller than the area covered by a wide area network
3. A personal area network is a computer network used for data transmission among devices such as computers, telephones and personal digital assistants.
4. A storage-area network is a dedicated high-speed network that interconnects and presents shared pools of storage devices to multiple servers.

13. A wireless LAN is one in which a mobile user can connect to a local area network through a wireless connection.
14. A wide area network is a telecommunications network or computer network that extends over a large geographical distance. Wide area networks often are established with leased telecommunication circuits.
15. A local area network is a computer network that interconnects computers within a limited area such as a residence, school, laboratory, or office building.
16. A virtual private network extends a private network across a public network, such as the Internet. It enables users to send and receive data across shared or public networks as if their computing devices were directly connected to the private network, and thus are benefiting from the functionality, security and management policies of the private network.
