How does understanding of each of these terms/concepts help improve our lives? by Mind Map: How does understanding of each of these terms/concepts help improve our lives?

1. Air resistance: Air resistance has enabled us to fly and jump out of planes. Because of our knowledge of air resistance we have been able to adapt planes that can fly and launch into space by using lift and weight mechanisms. We have also found how to make parachutes to lower your terminal velocity level by increasing your air resistance. This allows us to fly to places and learning abut other cultures.

2. Friction: Friction has enabled us to create the perfect shoes for different sports, for example, a net baller needs to stop suddenly so they have developed a shoe with a lot of friction so that they don’t keep going forwards, whilst dancers don’t want any friction on their shoes so they can slide around on stage. Friction has also taught us about car tyres and how to design and develop them so that we can stop really quickly.

3. Electrostatic force: We use electrostatic force for basically everything. We use it to start cars when they break down. It let’s glad wrap stick to things so we can keep our food fresh and free of germs. It also helps electricians who need to wear insulated gloves so that they don’t get electrocuted, this improves our lives and creates strong safety measures.

4. Law of Inertia: Inertia has helped us from avoiding many deaths and injuries in cars as we have now put in seat belts to stop us slamming forward when the brake is hit. Inertia also teachers us to secure things down on car racks and trailers for the same reason.

5. Law of action and reaction: We have used this to put air bags into cars so that when we have a car crash instead of flying through the dashboard or window and keep going, we now fly into an air bag that stops us from getting hurt. The force of our bodies is now stopped because the of force of an opening air bag, the air bags allowing our bodies to stop. It also helps us to sit down and walk with out falling though the ground because the pressure you are putting on the ground/chair which is being pushed back at you. We also can play sports such as tennis because it means the ball bounces back and up, allowing us to play.

6. Force: We have used our knowledge of force to invent things, such as doors, that we can open by twisting the handle and pulling and pushing it closed. This helps protect us from others and we have also used the concept of force to play sports such as soccer through kicking the ball with force. This entertains us and keeps us interested.

7. Gravity: Without gravity we would die because it is what holds our solar system together and there would be no water so we wouldn't be able to survive. Gravity is what builds our atmosphere and keeps everything in place. With gravity it improves our life immensely, but we have used our knowledge of gravity to fly planes whitch is helpful because it means we no longer have to take long and reckless boat trips to anther country.

8. Magnetic force: We use magnetic force to construct electrical motors and generators. It is also used in speakers to convert electrical energy into sound as well as TV screens, computer screens, telephone’s and tape recorders. We also use magnetic force with fridge doors to keep them closed and with compasses to find out directions by using the earth’s magnetic field. We also use magnetic force to stick things to the fridge and to pick things up with a magnet if we drop something and can't reach them.

9. Law of acceleration: We use this to make sports cars have faster acceleration and use less petrol, this helps car racers go faster and have less pit stops. We also use this without knowing it at races, if you have a smaller runner compared to a smaller one the smaller one will take of quicker. This also helps jockeys if they are smaller so that they don’t add too much to the horse to carry giving them a better chance to win.
