1. 1. Individual
1.1. Example: a single golden toad living on its own away from the rest.
2. 3. Population
2.1. Example: An amount; a number of people living in the same area.
3. 2. Community
3.1. Example: A forest of trees and undergrowth plants, inhabited by animals and rooted in soil containing bacteria and fungi.
4. 4. Ecosystem
4.1. Example: Components including water, air, sunlight, soil, plants, microorganisms, insects and animals. This system may be terrestrial--that is, on land--or aquatic.
5. 5. Biosphere
5.1. Example: Where life occurs on, above and below the surface of the Earth. The biosphere is all the layers that make up the atmosphere.
