1. Reactions and decisions

1.1. Useful Language

1.1.1. She promised to finish the report this week.

1.1.2. He agreed to increase the budget by 10%

1.1.3. We´ve decided not start work yet.

1.1.4. He said he was happy to attend and was keen to give a talk.

1.1.5. He does´nt like flying, so he was reclutant to go by plane.

1.1.6. They refused to do the work because it was too dangerous.

2. Reported and Speech

2.1. We use reported speech when we describe what somebody said.

2.2. When the verb in direct speech is will or can the form is: past simple + subject + would/could Direct speech: "l'il be lote." Reported speech: He told me he would be late. Direct speech: "We can't deliver on time" Reported speech: They sald they couldn't deliver on time

2.3. For all other verbs the form is: past simple + subject + past simple Direct speech: "The work is on schedule" Reported speech: She told me the work was on schedule

2.4. There are other reporting verbs we can use to describe what somebody said (promise, offer, refuse, agree, etc). He agreed to give a presentation. l promised to be there on time
