2. Plot

2.1. Meg and Charles have lost contact with their father. They met another boy named Calvin to help them. They must travel out of the state, out of the country, and out of the galaxy to find him. They soon find many problems along the way.

2.2. Mr. Murry goes missing, and it is up to the kids to find him.

2.3. Meg, Charles, and Calvin make it to the planet where Mr. Murry was missing, but things were not going as they thought. The problems they ran into kept building up.

2.4. Meg and Charles found their father.

2.5. Finding their father does not fix all of their problems. They still had to find a way to get home from the new planet, and try and save Charles Wallace from IT's brainy clutch.

2.6. The Murry's find their way home safely and all of Meg's and Charle's problems were fixed.

3. Themes, Allusions & Symbols

3.1. One theme of this book is not to be full of yourself because you may not know as much as you actually think you do so you may want to hear some suggestions by other people. Meg thought she knew what to do when her father went missing but it turns out, she needed some help along the was from her brother and friend.

3.2. A symbol in this book is the black thing because throughout the book there is a lot of bad things that happen. And it kind of symbolizes that something bad is going to happen again.

3.3. An allusion in this book is when Meg and Calvin are taking a walk in Meg's garden they are eating apples. And as a bedtime story, Charles asked Calvin to read him the book of Genesis. Also when they first make it to the planet they are riding across the fields and hears verses in song form. An allusion in this would be Adam and Eve, and everything relating back to the bible.

4. Characters

4.1. The protagonist is Meg because at the beginning of the book she was very shy and quirky, but then she became a little more open with herself and became more brave.

4.2. The sidekick is Charles Wallace because at first he is on Meg's side and is totally against IT, but then he begins acting more like IT and is kind of merging to his side.

4.3. The antagonist is IT because throughout the entire story he stays the same, which is evil, and everyone is against him.

5. Vocabulary

5.1. Section 1

5.1.1. Warily: "Meg eyed the principal warily, and ran over the barbed line of her braces." I think it means cautious.

5.1.2. Judiciously: "I like him," he announced judiciously. "Looks kind of like Charles Wallace doesn't he?" I think it means to show judgement towards something.

5.2. Section 2

5.2.1. Serenely: "Charles Wallace accepted the explanation serenely." I think it means for something to be calm.

5.2.2. Plaintively: "What do you mean?" Meg asked plaintively. "Please Mrs. Whatsit, it's all so confusing." I think it means for something to be blunt.

5.3.1. Bilious: "The green of the marble reflecting on their faces made them look bilious." I think this means evil.

Batter: "The furnace purred like a great, sleepy animal; the lights glowed with steady radiance; outside, alone in the dark, the wind still battered against the house, but the angry power that had frightened Meg while she was alone in the attic was subdued by the familiar comfort of the kitchen." 6. Summary

6.1. Meg, is woke by a storm, unable to fall back asleep with all of her flaws in her mind. She hears her "sheet thief" dog start to back, but figures it is just the storm he is barking at. When she goes downstairs to get some cocoa, her brother had already been one step ahead making it. their mother joins them, and Charles starts to talk about a mystery lady named Mrs. Whatsit. A few minutes later, she appeared at their doorstep complaining about the weather. She hurries out of the door leaving the words behind "there is such thing as a tesseract." The next day at school Meg gets in trouble for being rude, and gets defensive towards her principal when he starts talking about her father. After school, Charles and Meg and their dog meet Calvin at Mrs. Whatsit's and Mrs. Who's haunted house. Meg, Charles, and Calvin go back to the Murray's house to have a nice dinner. Meg and Calvin go for a walk and Calvin expresses his love towards Meg, when they get interrupted by Charles telling them it is time to go find their dad.

6.2. After everything is blacked out for minutes, Meg suddenly feels her heart beating again and sees Calvin and Charles shimmer back into her vision. Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which tells the kids they are on planet Uriel. She said they travel at the speed of "tesser" or "wrinkle" through space. They are informed that the life of their father in in danger by the darkness seen by Meg in the stars above. The children are told that their father is behind the darkness, so they must fight through it. They must travel in the form of tesser. they get a glimpse of Earth from where they are and see nothing but dark, evilness blocking it. They travel to a two dimensional planet, but Mrs. Who forgets that human bodies cannot exist in two dimensions. They are traveling to a foggy, gray planet in the belt of the constellation of Orion. They get introduced to the Happy Medium, who assures them that they are not alone. The children are informed that Mrs. Who, Mrs. Whatsit, and Mrs. Which will not be allowed to go with them to help their dad, bit they each get a gift to help them out along the journey. So the kids leave off on their adventure to find their dad.

6.3. Calvin, Meg, and Charles enter the CENTRAL central intelligent building. They find the problem come up of what the guards are talking about but enter the room of mechanical systems. They then find a man with red eyes who tries to hypnotize them. Charles is hypnotized and is no longer the same person. Charles Wallace, mentally captured, tells the other kids that IT is trying to lead them to their father. Charles moves the wall and shows them a cell in which their dad is trapped in. The only way Meg could get in the cell to her dad is by pitting on the spectacles. She puts them on and her and her dad are forced to follow Charles, along with Calvin. Calvin has the idea to tesser out of there.

6.4. After tessering, Meg is unable to feel anything. When she finally regains knowledge and sense, she is furious with her father for leaving Charles on Camazotz. Three strange creatures come towards them and Meg feels warmth when they touch her. The creatures say they are taking Meg with them. Meg is clothed and fed by these creatures and falls into a deep sleep. When she wakes up, she feels surprisingly rested. She names the creature Aunt Beast. Suddenly, Mrs. Which's voice was heard, announcing their arrival. Meg must go back to Camazotz to save Charles Wallace. Mrs. Which tells her she has a hidden ability that IT does not have, and she must discover it herself. When she tessers back to Camazots she realizes the ability is love. And Charles and Meg tesser back to Earth to their family, and the three ladies are gone.
