1. Romulus and Remus
1.1. Mars becomes enchanted with Rhea
1.2. Rhea (the vestal virgin) becomes pregnant
1.3. Romulus and Remus were born
1.4. The twins drifted down the river in a reed basket until a she-wolf found them
1.5. The twins were suckled by the she-wolf until a shepherd found them and raised them as his own
1.6. The twins built their city on Palatine Hill
1.7. Remus jumped over the boundaries and was slain
2. Rome's Leadership
2.1. monarchy until military defeat and foreign intervention
2.1.1. consuls soon named and a new Rome was created
2.1.1.1. The Republic is made and a series of political issues develop between the classes, patricians and the plebeians
2.1.1.2. the centuriate assembly and the tribal assembly
2.1.1.2.1. The centuriate assembly was military in nature; it voted on war and peace and elected all those magistrates who exercised imperium (military power)
2.1.1.2.2. The tribal assembly was a nonmilitary civilian assembly that elected those magistrates who did not exercise imperium.
