1. Chapter 10

1.1. Title of Chapter 10: What Comes of Handlin' Snake-skin

1.2. The Central Line of Chapter 10: "It's YOU, at last!—AIN'T it?" I out with a "Yes'm" before I thought."

1.3. The Point in Chapter 10: Jim had predicted bad luck the day before on account of Huck touching a snakeskin with his hand. Huck plays a prank on Jim; he kills a rattlesnake and puts it in Jim's bed to scare him. Unfortunately, the rattlesnake's mate comes and lies down with its dead partner, and then bites Jim when he gets into bed.

2. Chapter 11

2.1. Title of Chapter 11: They're After Us!

2.2. The Central Line of Chapter 11: "What did you say your name was, honey?" "M—Mary Williams." "Honey, I thought you said it was Sarah when you first come in?" "Oh, yes'm, I did. Sarah Mary Williams. Sarah's my first name. Some calls me Sarah, some calls me Mary."

2.3. The Point in Chapter 11: Huck does an all-around awful job of acting like a girl, and the jig is up. The woman calls him out, saying she knows he is a runaway apprentice. Huck hauls it back to Jackson's Island and tells Jim that they have to get out.

3. Chapter 8

3.1. Title of Chapter 8: I Spare Miss Watson's Jim

3.2. The Central Line of Chapter 8: "But mind, you said you wouldn' tell—you know you said you wouldn' tell, Huck." is what Jim said to Huck"

3.3. The Point in Chapter 8: Huck promises not to tell on Jim when he finds him. Huck is shocked, but knows he has to keep his word to Jim not to tell. Jim ran away because he overheard Miss Watson planning to sell him to New Orleans, which would have separated him from his family.

4. Chapter 9

4.1. Title of Chapter 9: The House of Death Floats By

4.2. The Central Line of Chapter 9: "It's a dead man. Yes, indeedy; naked, too. He's ben shot in de back. I reck'n he's ben dead two er three days. Come in, Huck, but doan' look at his face—it's too gashly."

4.3. The Point in Chapter 9: They came upon a makeshift house floating down the river, which was apparently flooded and dislodged in the storm. They climb in, and Jim finds a dead body. He tells Huck not to look at the man's face, as it's "too gashly."
