1. Amharic Speaking Students

1.1. Educators will be responsible for educating Native English speakers on the importance of creating a welcoming environment for their ELL peers to learn and grow in, without feeling alienated.

1.2. Students will work across language and cultural differences in groups to provide ELL students with experience communicating and learning in an English speaking environment. Native English speaking students will gain experience working across language and cultural differences to accomplish a goal. ELL students will learn the nuances of the English language through assigned note taker roles.

1.3. Groups will form inside the classroom and will work on assignments in and out of school.

1.4. Groups will form Monday- Friday during class per subject.

1.5. Each group will be given an assignment to complete, the assignments will be projects where students will work together to develop ideas and solutions (subject based). ELL learners will be given roles that will help them learn the nuances of the English language so that they will be better able to communicate with different people.

2. Spanish Speaking Students

2.1. Educators will be responsible for educating Native English speakers on the importance of creating a welcoming environment for their ELL peers to learn and grow in, without feeling alienated.

2.2. Students will work across language and cultural differences in groups to provide ELL students with experience communicating and learning in an English speaking environment. Native English speaking students will gain experience working across language and cultural differences to accomplish a goal. ELL students will be given leadership roles in the group to help them initiate conversations in the English language.

2.3. Groups will form inside the classroom and will work on assignments in and out of school.

2.4. Groups will form Monday- Friday during class per subject.

2.5. Each group will be given an assignment to complete, the assignments will be projects where students will work together to develop ideas and solutions (subject based). ELL students will be given leadership roles where they will be responsible for deciding on what direction the group should go in, this will help them feel comfortable initiating conversations with native English speakers.
