1. Born 1767 in South Carolina.
2. His father died when he was very young leaving his family poor.
3. He had a hot temper.
4. He joined the local militia at 13.
5. He was attacked by a British officer who cut his head and hand with a sword.
6. After the war he decided to become a lawyer.
7. He went to Tennessee to practice law.
8. He ran for president in 1824. He ran against Henry Clay, William Crawford, and John Quincy Adams.
9. He lost the presidential election to Adams because he didn't have enough electoral votes.
10. Jackson's supporters worked hard for Jackson to be elected as president.
11. The idea that common people should control their government is known as Jacksonian Democracy.
