Conditionals

1. Zero
1.1. We use the zero conditional when talking about things which are always true, or generally true.
1.2. if + present simple, ... present simple
1.3. Examples: -If public transport is efficient, people stop using their cars -If I run, I get tired
2. first
2.1. if + present simple, ... will + infinitivif + present simple, ... will + infinitive
2.2. We use first conditional when talking about possible future events.
2.3. Examples: -If you fail, you can always try again -if I see Sam, I will ask him to give you a call
3. Second
3.1. if + past simple, ... would + infinitive
3.2. We use the second conditional when talking about future events
3.3. Examples: - If I won a millon dollars, I would travel around the world -If I met him again, I would tell him the truth.
4. Third
4.1. if + past perfect, ... would + have + past participle
4.2. We use the third conditional when talking about things which are contrary to the past facts.
4.3. Examples: -If I had woken up on time, I would have taken the bus. -If it hadn't rained yesterday, we would have enjoyed a nice picnic
