CONDITIONALS

1. ZERO

1.1. This conditional is used when the result will always happen

1.1.1. If + present simple, .... present simple. If + present simple, .... present simple.

1.1.1.2. . You get water if you mix hydrogen and oxygen.

1.1.1.2.1. Snakes bite if they are scared

2. SECOND

2.1. The second conditional uses the past simple after if, then 'would' and the infinitive

2.2. if + past simple, ...would + infinitive

2.3. Examples

2.4. If I met the Queen of England, I would say hello.

2.4.1. She would travel all over the world if she were rich.

2.4.1.1. . She would pass the exam if she ever studied.

3. THIRD

3.1. It's used to describe a situation that didn't happen, and to imagine the result of this situation.

3.2. if + past perfect, ...would + have + past participle

3.3. Examples

3.4. She wouldn't have been tired if she had gone to bed earlier

3.4.1. She would have become a teacher if she had gone to university

3.4.1.1. He would have been on time for the interview if he had left the house at nine

4. FIRST

4.1. It's used to talk about things which might happen in the future.

4.2. if + present simple, ... will + infinitive

4.4. She'll be late if the train is delayed.

4.4.1. She'll miss the bus if she doesn't leave soon.
