1. Awareness and Exploration of Reading
1.1. Pre-K to early Kindergarten

2. Emergent Reading Stage
2.1. Typically Pre-K
2.2. The students can become comfortable with the books. They also start to recognize different letters and words.
3. Early Reading Stage
3.1. Kindergarten to early Grade 1
3.2. In this stage, children can understand the story more and start to make connections between the pictures and the events in the story.
4. Transitional Reading Stage
4.1. Typically Grade 1 to Grade 2
4.2. Students are beginning to comprehend the text and read at a decent pace. They still need help with words but they have more understanding.

5. Fluent Reading Stage
5.1. Grade 3 and higher
5.2. Students are able to begin to read independently. They are confident in their understanding of how the text works.
