"August 2026: There Will Come Soft Rains"

1. Silhouette- the dark shape of something visible against a lighter background

2. Paranoia- a serious illness that causes you to falsely believe that other people are trying to harm you; an unreasonable feeling that someone is trying to hurt you

3. Incinerator- a machine that burns garbage/waste

4. Oblivious- not conscious or aware of something

5. Sublime- of such excellence, grandeur, or beauty as to inspire great admiration or awe

6. Psychopathic- suffering from or constituting a chronic mental disorder with abnormal or violent social behavior

7. Regiment- a permanent unit of an army typically commanded by a colonel and divided into several companies, squadrons, or batteries and often into two battalions

8. Capillaries- a tube that has an internal diameter of hairlike thinness

9. SUMMARY-- It's August ,2026 in Allendale California, there's an automated house that wakes you up, and can even light a cigar for you. The family that had died and the only thing left was their shadows that were burned into the side of the house when they were vaporized. The family dog comes home and later dies and the house cleans up the remains. The house then starts to read Sara Teasdale’s poem “There Will Come Soft Rain” Nearing the end of the day a strong wind breaks a window and starts a fire. The house tries its best to contain the fire, but the fire out smarts the house and wins. The last thing to “die” in the house is saying “Today is August 5, 2026, Today is August 5, 2026, today is..."

10. Quote-- "In the living room the voice-clock sang, Tick-tick, seven o'clock, time to get up, time to get up, seven o'clock! as if it were afraid that nobody would."

11. 1. It had talking clocks that would tell when to do things and ovens that would cook your food for you and an automatic fire system to put out the flames

15. 5. it hadn't ate in a while because the house didn't know a dog lived there so it didn't know to feed it

16. 6. The mice take its remains to the incinerator to burn it

17. 7. The family would play cards and have some drinks

18. 8. The kids probably took a nap around this time

22. 12. Wars do serious damage and having a house that can take care of its self is good and bad
