1. Summative - done after a large amount of learning
1.1. Standardized Testing - Such as STAAR
1.2. Final Exams - after 3 weeks of learning about plants, their parts, and their needs, have students answer 10 questions about what we have learned
1.3. Major Projects - Decide on a topic, such as 'do white candles durn faster than colored candles', and perform the experiment and then present it and the information learned
1.4. Research Projects - have students use knowledge learned during class discussion and lesson, as well as computer research and book research to give a paper about different animal coverings and how the covering helps the animal

3. Formative - gathering evidence of student learning
3.1. Formal
3.1.1. Planned Activity - Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down - Have students give a thumbs up if they understand, thumbs down if they don't
3.1.2. Pre-Assessment - See what students know prior to a lesson by giving a pre-assessment test or quiz
3.1.3. Quizzes - In class quizzes after a small lesson to see if students understand
3.1.4. Homework - Have students take home homework on Monday, and bring it back done on Friday
3.1.5. Assignments - At home Rock Study - complete recording sheet about rock's weight, height, and length
3.2. Informal
3.2.1. Observations - watch students and see if they look confused and/or answering questions on their own
3.2.2. Questioning - asking comprehension questions before, during, and after lesson
