Pre-Assessment: The Shape Game by Mind Map: Pre-Assessment: The Shape Game

1. Description: students will on sit on the carpet, large group, and participate in an interactive game to see what they know about shapes. In this game the students will be shown a slide that will ask them to circle the [shape]. At first it starts off easy and then it it becomes more complicated by having multiple different shapes on the screen in different sizes. Teacher will take notes on what students know and ask questions throughout. Students names will be drawn for fairness and so that everyone gets a turn. I will be able to determine what students know and which category they will go in by their ability to answer questions on each slide.

1.1. Limited Knowledge (5)

1.1.1. During the pre-assessment: students will exhibit their ability by not being able to answer the question when called on, even at the earlier levels on the game. They will be looking to see others answers instead of creating an answer on their own (this is when we will be checking the students who answered by asking the class thumbs up if they are correct).

1.1.2. Assessments: work with students one-on-one. Have more detailed notes during observations.

1.2. Some Knowledge (12)

1.2.1. During the pre-assessment: Student will exhibit their ability by answering the questions when called on, but not all the time. They are more certain of their answers with thumbs-up but are sometimes not right. They get the easier questions right, but sometimes struggle with the harder questions.

1.2.2. Assessments: through observations and keep track of their work by putting it all into a folder to see how they progress.

1.3. Advanced Students (5)

1.3.1. During the pre-assessment: Student will exhibit their ability by answering the questions when called on. They are certain of their answers with thumbs-up and get them right. They get the easier questions right, as well as the harder questions.

1.3.2. Assessments: Use KG1 standards to help meet their needs. Because they are already ahead of grade level and learn assess through higher standards. Create notes of the standards and write down observations of how well they do to achieve these higher standards.
