1. What does Crossroads do?

1.1. Crossroads is a not for profit agency that provides a range of mental health and social services to children under the age of 12 and their families in the Ottawa area.

2. What services/programs for Ontario students and their families?

2.1. Crossroads provides many home-based services where they work with families in their home environments. They have a Day Treatment Program that runs in two Ottawa schools for children who cannot manage in a regular school setting. They provide Wraparound, TAPP-C (The Arson Prevention Program for Children) to reduce the risk of fire setting behavior, and Police Referral services for children who have been (or are at risk of being) in trouble with the law. Crossroads also has a Connections Program which is offered in ten Ottawa schools and is for children who are typically verbally and/or physically aggressive and very oppositional. Crossroads also offers Clinical Services provided by their Child & Family Therapists to provide counseling for children and caregivers, both individually and together, and family therapy. Crossroads also runs a Mental Health Walk-in Clinic every Wednesday from 9am – noon, and every Thursday from noon-8pm (you must arrive before 6:30 pm to be seen).

3. How are services/programs accessed?

3.1. In order to access services from Crossroads, you can contact the Intake Department at 613-723-1623×232. They will gather some basic information and determine if Crossroads is the best organization to help you. Otherwise, certain schools in Ottawa may recommend Crossroads if they feel this program would be beneficial.

4. What are Crossroads' visions and goals?

4.1. The Mission of the Crossroads Children’s Centre is to work with children and their families struggling with severe emotional, behavioural and social difficulties. This is accomplished through a wide range of services and targets children up to the age of twelve.

5. How does Crossroads address equity, inclusion and awareness of cultural diversity?

5.1. Crossroads addresses equity, inclusion and awareness of cultural diversity by providing counselling and support to individuals who may be experiencing emotional and behavioural difficulties. The services are free of charge, therefore they are available to individuals who may not be able to afford the services.
