1. Changes

1.1. Living conditions were poor in the late 1950s mainly because of overcrowding and run-down houses but living conditions are better became better overtime

1.2. Housing was inadequate at the beginning of the 20th century due to the growing population but there are sufficient houses in this state of time

1.3. Some people used to live in squatter settlements in 1959 but now there are no more people living in squatter settlements

1.4. There were no toilets in the late 1960s and they had to use an unhygienic "bucket" system where the sanitary conditions were not good unlike now where we have proper toilets to use

1.5. People living in kampongs did not have amenities such as modern toilet facilities,running water and electricity but nowadays many people have these amenities

1.6. Previously people had to carry their own rubbish and throw it in the dustbin outside on the road but now every flat has its own rubbish disposal chute

1.7. The kampongs back then were dirty and unhygienic but the HDB flats are cleaner in the present

1.8. Kampongs back then did not have amenities such as markets and community centres, unlike now where we have them around HDB flats

2. Continuities

2.1. People nowadays still live with neighbours just like the olden times

2.2. People still live in Housing & Development Board (HDB) flats

2.3. Some people still live in shophouses just like the olden times

2.4. The HDB flats were not any different in size compared to the kampong
