2. The speed that a CPU works at is measured in hertz

3. computers require input hardware, processing hardware and output hardware. The hardware that defines a computer is the CPU and memory. Without these a computer could not function.

4. Storage stores programs and files long term, even when they are not in use. Devices such as hard drives, USB memory sticks or SD cards are used to store files such as photos, music and software applications long term.

5. Memory stores program operations and data while a program is being executed. There are several types of memory, including: registers, cache, RAM and virtual memory.

7. The CPU sends signals to control the other parts of the computer, almost like how a brain controls a body.

8. The CPU is an electronic machine that works on a list of things to do, called 'instructions'. It reads the list of instructions and does (executes) each one in order. A list of instructions that a CPU can run is a computer program.
