2. Aims and Objectives

2.1. Design and Technologies

2.1.1. Students produce designed solutions suitable for a range of Technologies contexts by selecting and manipulating a range of materials, systems, components, tools and equipment creatively, competently and safely; and managing processes.

2.1.2. Students understand the roles and responsibilities of people in design and technologies occupations and how they contribute to society.

2.2. Digital Technologies

2.2.1. Students use computational thinking and the key concepts of abstraction; data collection, representation and interpretation; specification, algorithms and implementation to create digital solutions.

2.2.2. Students confidently use digital systems to efficiently and effectively transform data into information and to creatively communicate ideas in a range of settings.

2.2.3. Students apply systems thinking to monitor, analyse, predict and shape the interactions within and between information systems and understand the impact of these systems on individuals, societies, economies and environments.

3. Content Descriptors

3.1. Content descriptions set out the knowledge, understanding and skills that teachers are expected to teach and students are expected to learn. They do not prescribe approaches to teaching.

4. Content Elaborations

4.1. Content elaborations are provided for Foundation to Year 10 as support material to illustrate and exemplify what is to be taught and to assist teachers in developing a shared understanding of the content descriptions. They are not intended to be comprehensive content points that all students need to be taught nor do they encompass every aspect of a content description.

5. Achievement Standards

5.1. From Pre-primary to Year 10, achievement standards indicate the quality of learning that students should typically demonstrate by a particular point in their schooling. An achievement standard describes the quality of learning.
