3. Malcolm Shepherd Knowles (1913-1997) was an American educator well known for the use of the term Andragogy as synonymous to the adult education.  According to Malcolm Knowles, andragogy is the art and science of adult learning, thus andragogy refers to any form of adult learning. (Kearsley, 2010).

4. In 1980, Knowles made 4 assumptions about the characteristics of adult learners (andragogy) that are different from the assumptions about the characteristics of child learners (pedagogy).  In 1984, Knowles added the 5th assumption (Kearsley, 2010).

5. 5 Assumptions:

6. 1. Self-Concept-being mature to watch out for your reputation on social media. 2. Adult Learner Experience- Understand how to use social media as a resource for researching information and the use of social media. 3. Readiness to Learn- Social media can help with this. 4. Orientation to Learning. And 5. Motivation to Learn- As a person matures the motivation to learn is internal (Knowles 1984:12).

7. Social media is the ultimate integration of technology, interpersonal interactions, and content. McMillan, 2012).

8. As Standard l(A) states: "Members and condidates must not engage in conduct that constitutes a violation of the Code and Standards, even though it may otherwise be legal." The Code and Standards goes on to say that  in the absence of any applicable law or regulation or when the Code and Standards impose a higher degree of responsibility than applicable laws and regulations, members and candidates must adhere to the Code and Standards. (McMillan, 2012).

9. The Standards of Practice Handbook (SOPH) defines misrepresentation as "any untrue statement or omission of a fact or any statement that is otherwise false or misleading" (McMillan, 2012).

10. The SEC recommends that policies and procedures concerning the use of social media address the following issues: Usage guidelines, Content standards, Monitoring, Approval of content, and Participation. (McMillan, 2013).

11. The value of demonstrating new and emerging competencies is now apparent.  Some of these competencies include 1. staying abreast of new and emerging technologies and matching the appropriate technology to a specific learning opportunity or challenge.

12. 2. Moving beyond the role of deliverer of training to a facilitator of learning, content curator, information manager, and builder of learning communities, 3.fostering a culture of connectivity and collaboration around learning via mobile and social technology. (Naughton, 2013).
