Piaget felt that a child\'s learning is initiated by their desire to learn and this is accomplished by physical interaction with the world around them.

Keeping this in mind, teachers can:

A) Use concrete props and visual aids whenever possible.

B) Make use of a wide range of experiences (hands-on, writing, student-presentations, computer software programs, field trips, etc.) in order to build a foundation of concepts.

C) Using games in the classroom, to aide learning, is most helpful. There are wonderful resources like learn-with-math-games.com, for collaboration games, or Mathplayground.com for individual students (or small groups) to work on.

*As an aside, I beleive Montessori schools really embrace Piaget\'s theory of self-initiated learning.
