Why : We have a huge disadvantage of small carriers comparing to shippers on the market: They are forced to low rates and prices (especially out of season and for returns), long payment periods, high risks related to terms of freight and costs (leasing, fuel) , complicated formal requirement (tacho, certifications, licences), problems with drivers and even immigrants. On the other side are shippers who can overuse their power. The carriers side consist of many small companies, the shippers are mostly bigger companies with lawyers and many choice options. They are more collaborative only during the seasonal peaks.
