1. GIVE IMMEDIATE AND CORRECTIVE FEEDBACK
1.1. Without question, the more clear and explicit the feedback students receive, the more readily they will master the skills you are teaching.
2. ONGOING PROGRESS MONITORING
2.1. You have to know what areas your students are struggling in, and which they are advanced in.
3. EXPLICIT INSTRUCTION WITH MODELING
3.1. Do not assume the students know exactly what you are expecting!
3.1.1. You must provide a strong model to support learning and understanding!!
4. SYSTEMATIC INSTRUCTION WITH SCAFFOLDING
4.1. Plan instruction carefully, and present it in a logical order!
4.1.1. Implement scaffolding instruction
5. PROVIDE MULTIPLE OPPORTUNITIES TO PRACTICE AND RESPOND
5.1. Practice makes perfect! Do you get everything on the first try?
5.1.1. Practice in a variety of ways that are interesting to the students! Let them respond by think, pair, share!!
