'The Curse' mindmap

1. Main character- Lucy, whereby we decided as a group, will wear light clothing in the start of the trailer and different clothes when she enters the forest- this is because it helps show her differing characters through her clothing

2. The first setting will take place in the school stairs near the caretakers' whereby a group of friends are talking which then leads to one of them daring any of them to go to a 'cursed' forest.

2.1. The length of the trailer will be 40 seconds to 1 minute which all depends on how many shots will be taken, the transitions, how quick or slow we want the montage of shots to be as well as the build-up of the sound.

3. Characters- 3 or four girls.This is because it will help prevail a different atmosphere of the audience wandering to want to know what will happen in the forest but if there were male characters then the audience will subject gender stereotypes. Therefore, we want to break this evidential issue in the film industry by having dominant female characters as well as a all-female cast.

3.1. The other friend(second lead)- Amy, whereby we decided as a group, will wear light clothing and different clothes(preferably heavier clothes, which reflects the atmosphere the forest will prevail) when she enters the forest- it reflects her differing characters, similar to Lucy, as well as foreshadowing what will disrupt their equilibrium.

4. Conventions- haunted, scream, uneasy feeling, supernatural force, madness, insanity, revenge- these codes and conventions will be reinforced through the transitions, shots, camera movements and sound shown in the trailer to help enforce fear to the audience

5. Genre- Thriller/ Horror/ Supernatural- We chose this denominations within the Horror genre because it is very easy to recreate as well as having an original idea for our trailer. This will be shown through our transitions, shots, camera movements and sound.

5.1. Dead girl- wears white clothes which is effective because the connotation of white is good, purity which contradicts with her personality therefore makes the audience more scared of her as she is more dangerous than the audience will think she is.

5.2. Ghost is showed in the end of the trailer which scares the audience- follows the typical code and conventions of typical teaser trailers.

6. Sound bridge: With one of the characters daring one of the friends to go to the forest when they are in the forest. We also want a sound bridge of one of the supernatural force saying 'Lucy' during the montage of shots.

7. Diegetic sound of the supernatural force intensifies like around the mid-end of the trailer which leads to the end of the trailer.

7.1. Montage of shots- after the supernatural force says 'Lucy' which helps set the montage of shots in motion and this diegetic sound will intensify throughout the montage and dim down a bit then the non-exegetic sound of the supernatural force will come out of nowhere which helps scare the audience
