Symptoms of fur mites...

1. Will have scaly patches
1.1. On back, shoulder, and neck
1.1.1. may have red, oily skin
2. other diseases that vets may have trouble deciding between wih fur mits are
2.1. lice, and fleas.
3. There are a few different kinds of fur mites.
3.1. some Fur mites will actually burrow deep into the skin.
3.2. The fur mites will leave small, round areas of missing fur.
3.3. They will also leave sores that appear to look like holes.
4. It can also lead to secondary bacterial infections and affect the immune system.
4.1. By causing elevated levels of IgE, IgG, IgA, inflamitory cytokines, and degranulation of mast cells, as well as lymphocytopenia.
4.1.1. These mites can infect other animals if they are by or in contact with the infected animal.
5. Skin irritation and itchiness.
5.1. hair loss.
5.1.1. Due to the fact that they are continuously scratching.
5.1.2. Hair around the infected area will be easy to come out in chunks.
5.1.2.1. Also, flaking will occur
5.2. hedge hogs are known to loose quills.
5.2.1. rabbits loose hair in clumps.
6. Chronic dandrif
6.1. behind nape of neck
6.1.1. on animal's behind
6.1.1.1. and along their back.
6.1.2. As well as sores and scabs in the infected area.
