We should not work on Fridays

1. Longer school days

1.1. Although a shorter week makes for longer school days, students and teachers would have plenty of time to rest because they have an extra day off.

2. Improves attendance

2.1. The Melstone School District in Montana reports, "... statistics indicating that their attendance improved as much as 20 percent over a two-year period after moving to a four-day school week," (Bradley).

3. happier teachers have happier students

3.1. "Some students feel the four-day school week provides an opportunity for extra rest and a less stressful environment. Being out of school one extra day per week allows students to relax or to be more productive." (Bradley).

4. Saves schools money

4.1. "Transportation costs including fuel, bus maintenance and driver salaries are reduced. Also, if facilities are used only four days per week instead of five, there is a significant reduction in utility costs to the system. Money spent to fund school breakfast and lunch programs are reduced by 20 percent, as is spending associated with all hourly cafeteria and custodial workers" (O'Neil 2).
