Sequence
by Matthew Guerrero
1. Sequence is a list of order of numbers that have a certain pattern in them
2. Has a recursive formula based on previous terms. Equation for arithmetic an=an-1+d and geometric an=an-1*r.
3. Has a explicit formula based on finding the next term in a sequence. Equation for arithmetic an=a1(n-1)*d and for geometric an=a1*r to the n-1 power
4. An arithmetic sequence has a common difference which determines the rate of change. Geometric sequence has a common ratio which determines the rate of change of that sequence.
5. Arithmetic has adding and subtracting and is linear.
6. Arithmetic and Geometric Sequences
7. Geometric is multiplying and subtracting and is exponential
8. There are meanings to a sub 1, a sub n, and a sub n-1. A sub 1 means the 1st term of the sequence. A sub n means the nth term of the sequence.A sub n-1 means the previous term of a sub n.
