Q2. How does your media product represent particular social groups? by Mind Map: Q2. How does your media product represent particular social groups?

1. With many of our shots, they show a close-up view of both our female and male protagonists. They are both 16 years old, which is similar to our target audience. By doing this, it allows the watchers to relate to the characters and the story. The female character's makeup is very plain and simple. This can also contrast to some girls in this youth as most like lots of make-up but 'Lilly' doesn't seem to be like that.

2. The soundtrack in our sequence is slow, quite creepy and abstract. This represents how the protagonist is feeling. For example, at the beginning the song is quite slow which shows the atmosphere is quiet and calm and so are the characters but as 'Lilly' wakes up, the music changes to faster. This implies the character is getting more and more panicky and confused which is what our aim was to show. Nevertheless, teenagers are usually stressed and panicky about something which shows the common feeling of adolescents.

3. The facial expression of Lily shows the same point as the music does. Throughout the whole sequence, the characters face has no immediate emotion. However, she also looks scared and panicky by the widening of her eyes and this works well with the type of music we picked. The aspects work together. Her body shape is also tight with tension which implies she feels alone, scared and isolated. This isn't common with teenagers, lots feel this way which is why this works well as it may be easy for viewers to relate too.

4. Both characters in our opening title sequence are wearing very simple and plain clothes. Jack (the actor) is wearing just a dark grey top and black jeans with converse. We found that Converse were voted very popular by for teens due to some research we did so we chose for Jack to wear these as they are common with teenagers nowadays. We chose to do this because we wanted the characters to seem as similar as they do outside of films. Lily (the actress) in our opening title sequence is just wearing blue jeans and a knitted white sweater and black Nike shoes. The reason we chose to dress was the same as the reason as Jack. We wanted them to look like classic teens so that our film would be easy to relate to and therefore enjoy.

5. The dark lighting throughout the film is different to most successful ones as they are mostly bright and colourful. By doing this, it not only shows the eerie effect but it also shows that the character has deeper and darker thoughts about what might have happened during the night. I feel this shows the representation of a social group as some people this age have possibly darker thoughts than others.
