Why do fizzy drinks erupt when mint flavoured Mentos is dropped into it?(What we want to know)
by Hon Ta Yi
1. How does the caffeine, potassium benzoate, aspartame, and CO2 gas contained in the Diet Coke and the gelatin and gum arabic in the mint flavoured Mentos contribute to the "eruption", when it is dropped into the Diet Coke?
2. Why does Diet Coke fare the best in the "eruption" created when mint flavoured Mentos is dropped into it as compared to any other fizzy drink?
3. Are the tiny pores on the mint flavoured Mentos the only reason that makes it the only flavour of mentos that causes the "eruption", when it is dropped into fizzy drinks, or are there more reasons?
4. What will happen if Diet Coke is drank in conjunction with the consumption of mint flavoured Mentos?
5. Why is the "eruption" caused only when mint flavoured Mentos is dropped into fizzy drinks and not any other kind of drink?
6. Are there any chemicals or substances that make fizzy drinks the only type of drink that supports the "eruption" caused when mint flavoured Mentos is dropped into them?
7. The hypothesis: Mint flavoured Mentos when dropped in Diet Coke, creates a bigger "eruption" than other fizzy drinks.
