2.1. Make people realize that sometimes simple actions like talking can help you go through tough times.

2.2. Make people realize that judging people for who they are, what they have been through or what their opinions are is wrong and can dangerously hurt someone.

2.2.1. "Words Hurt"

2.3. Not talking to your close ones about problems that you are going through or things that you are feeling can often distance you away from them as you will be willing to speak to them less being afraid that they will say something you don't want to hear back.

3. Inspiration

3.1. One of the book's main themes was how lying and keeping secrets can bring you to dealing with awful consequences like a huge family crisis that the book was all about.

3.2. Inspired by the play "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof", written by Tennesee Williams.

3.3. The book really made me realize that often we (humans), can do insane things just because we are keeping our emotions and feelings in being afraid of judgement.

4.1. Based on how lying and keeping secrets can affect you, your family, and friends.

4.2. If something is going on, you don't need to keep it in. You can always talk to someone.

5.1. Multiple Characters

5.1.1. Harper - suffering from being called names and being afraid to tell anyone. After people have called her "ugly" and "pathetic", she feels extremely insecure about herself and simply wants to distance herself from everyone around her.

5.1.2. Gabe - failing classes and being afraid of what his parents might say. He lies about everything being good at school and having straight A's.

5.1.3. Mia - afraid to tell her friends and family that she is homosexual. She thinks that they will judge her. She lies about being straight

5.1.4. Cody- afraid to tell anyone that bullies are forcing him to do their homework. They threaten him if he doesn't do it. He is scared to get into more trouble if he talks.

6.1. Talks through the issue of people keeping something inside for very long and not exposing the truth and later ending up drinking, suiciding, and isolating themselves in hope to ease the pain.

6.2. Showing people that it is okay to have secrets, but if something is bothering you, don't commit to decisions that you know aren't right.

6.3. Try solving the issue in a calm, peaceful manner.
