Nutrient Inquiry by Mind Map: Nutrient Inquiry

1. We eat food to get nutrients. Their functions help us to survive.

1.1. Why do nutrients function the way they do?

1.1.1. Its most likely the molecular build up of the nutrients. Our body needs help in some areas and because of the these specific nutrients were created they were given unique abilities in which they use to aid the parts of our body in the way that it needs to be aided. Also the kinds of food could also explain some of the functions. Like when you may eat a hamburger because of how many nutrients their are and their molecular make up our body gets a lot of energy but may lack bodily functioning nutrients.

1.2. How does our body take in and use the nutrients?

1.2.1. I think our body recognizes the nutrients. Our body may recognize the specific nutrient and guide it the right way as well as that the nutrient itself know's its purpose. Then the nutrient may break apart and then sufficiently provides itself in the use it has come all this way for.

2. We can do things to better our own health and our communites health and relationships with food.

2.1. Why does our community not appreciate food education as much as they should.

2.1.1. I think our community feels this way because they feel other health educations(bullying, sex ed, growth mindset, etc.) are more important especially in these vital years. They might feel as though tackling phenomenons which occur or affect you life at this age would be more important than tackling things that at this age don't have as large of an affect because of how our body works(metabolism, etc.) wouldn't be as important.

3. Portion size, nutritional context, and ingrediants help us make better food choices.

3.1. Why are the nutrients that provide energy classified as macro nutrients and the nutrients that help our body function considered micro nutrients.

3.1.1. That's just how it is. Providing energy may just require more strength and the fact that a nutrient may be considered a macro may imply it's stronger nutrient which can be significantley more essential in the sense of a very big thing we need which is energy. Where as the smaller nutrients or micro nutrients are weaker and rather may control more specific bodily functions and most are unique.

3.2. Why do people not check the labels when they buy things?

3.2.1. People don't check the labels because their to lazy too and don't understand how an over or underdose of a certain nutrient may be very bad for you. Also an adult may not understand the fact that now that their of this age the body doesn't function the same and their metabolism isn't as high and than when something bad happens they regret but still fail to check the labels because that's exactly what our society has come too, laziness.
