5. President Lincoln went Ford Theater with his wife to watch a play with his wife on Good Friday, April 14, 1865 as the Civil War was drawing to an end. On this night, John Wilkes Booth assassinated President Lincoln.
6. He is on the penny and $5 dollar bill. Also standing in Washington D.C. is the Lincoln Memorial. He also has an aircraft carrier named after him...USS Abraham Lincoln.
7. At the beginning of the war, he wanted to emancipate the slaves and came up with the concept we call The Emancipation Proclamation
8. November 19,1863 Gettysburg Address. This is the time President Lincoln made a speech that is now documented as one of the most quoted speeches in history. It is still quoted today in history classes.
