1. Childhood
1.1. Ellen was born and raised in Metairie, Louisiana.
1.2. Ellen lived with mother, father, and brother until middle of high school when parents separated.
1.3. Ellen's mother re-married and she moved with her and the new husband to Atlanta, Texas. Her brother remained in Louisiana with her father.
2. Work Information
2.1. Ellen began doing stand up comedy in New Orleans. By 1980, she went on a national tour. By 1982, she was named Showtime's Funniest Person In America.
2.2. In the late 1980s Ellen began work in films and tv shows.
2.3. In 2003 Ellen launched a daytime television talk show called The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
3. Education
3.1. Ellen attended Grace King High school in Louisiana for half of high school.
3.2. Ellen spent other half of high school in Atlanta high school in Texas, and graduated in May of 1976
3.3. Ellen attended the University of New Orleans, majoring in Communications, for one semester and then dropped out to work in a law firm with a cousin
