Differentiation for Three Groups of Students by Mind Map: Differentiation for Three Groups of Students

1. Group C

1.1. Innovative strategy: Teacher support (identifying, understanding

1.2. Assessment: Choose from a variety of tasks what they feel more comfortable with. the choices include: Choosing 3 WOKs to describe, supported by visuals, explain how those WOKs are connected to either one another or some other ways of knowing. Create a product of their choice showing the connections between the WOKs to one another. Provide examples of how we can find WOKs in different moments in our life. Explain three examples of their own lives and two examples from the news. The product would be student choice and it will be either an oral presentation (supported by PPT or Prezi) a written report, a video, a lecture, or workshop to the class.

2. Group B:

2.1. Innovative strategy: Cooperative work (application, analysis) work in groups creating a project to apply some of the woks they learned

2.2. Assessment: Students will be presented with the situation: what if the four WOKs that we chose to study did not exist? What could be an alternative way to obtain knowledge? In pairs or groups of 3, students will decide the best way to present a solution to this possible situation. They have to describe what would happen to our current knowledge if those WOKs had never existed, How they would be replace and provide detailed explanation of at least two alternative ways we would have to attain knowledge. The product would be student choice and it will be either an oral presentation (supported by PPT or Prezi) a written report, a video, a lecture, or workshop to the class.

Assessment: Students will predict the way of knowledge (from the choice of four for the class) that will be subject to more changes within the next 20 years, either due to technological innovations, cultural exchanges, globalization or any other factors. They will base their prediction on actual research, and reasonable conjectures. Their prediction should include a description of how the change is going to be, and a hypothesis of how it will affect our shared construction of knowledge. The product would be student choice and it will be either an oral presentation (supported by PPT or Prezi) a written report, a video, a lecture, or workshop to the class.
