1. During the research and planning stage at the start of the project made me realise what are the typical forms of conventions of real media products today. For example, the opening film I choose to analyse was 'Insidious' which is a typical horror film.

2. I also discovered that horror opening films don't often follow a narrative as it does not give out too much information away.

3. Looking at this horror film opening, I also discovered that the titles and credits are written in distorted title text such as spooky font and red writing which are the connotations of danger. Also the use of titles and credits allows the audiences to know who is involved in the film which is a good way to attract the audience because of their favourite characters.

4. Images: scary images such as a creepy old house and mysterious places around the house: manipulated lighting for greater outcome and fear. This is because of the time frame- scary things occur in old places.

5. Also, the horror conventions in this type of horror film looks realistic and easily fit in the horror genre.

6. The typical horror film conventions I found: non-diegetic sound to start off with (when the idents comes on) showing Equilibrium. However, during the disruption and chaos lots of fast paced shots and sound that complements the actions on screen. For example, in 'Insidious' when the women is shown standing near the window, the slow calm piano music changes to squeaking sound connoting something foreboding is going to happen. Therefore, the soundtrack changes to create a thrill.

7. There is also a scare shot at the end of the opening to leave the audience with suspense and make them wonder what is going to happen.

8. The editing becomes more apparent and more shots/cuts and more transitions during disequilibrium scenes.
