Manifest Destiny of the US

1. Texas Revolution

1.1. Americans helped Texans fight against Mexicans. After winning war they eventually got annexed into the US

2. Native American Removal Act

2.1. US moved native Americans from their land in America to the Indian territory in the US, so Americans could have more land.

3. Oregon Territory

3.1. America disputed against the British about boundaries. America got everything below the 49th parallel.

4. Civil War

4.1. Southerners wanted more slave states and Northerners wanted more free states. Growing to the west caused fights over what a new state should be.

5. Coast to Coast

5.1. US eventually had all land from coast to coast of north america

6. Mexican American War

6.1. US gained lots of land from Mexican cession, after US won the war.

7. The United States was not justified to expand west and cause all of these problems. However, it was very important that they did. Staying a small country might not be as good as being a country the size we are today.
