2. write fractions using the smallest numbers possible
3. divide numerator and denominator by the SAME number
4. simplify 27 over 108
4.1. 27 divided by 3=9
4.2. 108 divided by 3=36
5. get the numerator and denominator as small as possible
6. now the fraction is 9 over 36, so divide the numerator and denominator by 9
6.1. 9 divided by 9=1
7. 9 divided by 9 = 1 36 divided by 9 = 4 so the fraction has been simplified to 1 over 4
