1. INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCES

2. RIGHTS

2.1. making them aware of their rights - united nation convention of the rights of a child - mental health act 14' - human rights

2.2. speaking on the clients behalf when needed

2.3. giving referrals to the correct service

2.4. help them advocate for themselves - giving them the resources needed. - supporting them.

3. CONFIDENTIALITY

3.1. explaining to them the meaning on confidentiality and making sure that they understand what it is

3.2. making sure i explain when im obligated to break confidentiality

3.3. explaining my job role and my duty of care and including my work role boundaries

3.4. make sure i always ask permission if i need to pass on information to somebody.

3.5. PRIVACY - asking anybody else in the room to leave and give us some space - having the door closed during appointments

4. COMMUNICATION

4.1. being mindful of our body language - making sure that it is open, calm and inviting

4.2. speaking at the clients intellectual level

4.3. use humor to gain rapport

4.4. not being confrontational - not siting directly in front of the client - try having deep conversations over a coffee or while going for a walk or even playing a game of pool if available.

5. SELF-DEFINITION

5.1. ask them if they have goals for themselves

5.2. supporting their goals

5.3. help them get the resources they need to acheive their goals

5.4. always bring the focus back to what they are wanting to achieve for themselves

5.5. create a individualised care plan - work around how the client wants their recovery to be (clinical or personalised) - show on going support
