1. High Performing Students

1.1. Instructional Strategies: Place high performing students in groups with struggling students. Have them pair up with a special needs student at the beginning of the year whom they will be grouped with throughout the year, so they can further learning and leadership skills by helping their peers.

2. Average Performing Students

2.1. Instructional Strategies: Place average students into groups with a high performing student to learn positive attributes of a high performer and with a low performer so they can be a positive role model for them.

3. Struggling Students

3.1. Instructional Strategies: Review/check for prior knowledge, Place struggling students in groups with high performing students. Change teaching pace, repeat, draw, and demonstrate directions, break down instruction into smaller chunks, provide examples.

3.2. Formative assessment in the form of the "playing card" poster. If student is still struggling to demonstrate knowledge within their groups, I will provide one-on-one time during lunch or after school to get student caught up and for them to verbally demonstrate knowledge.

4. Students with Special Needs

4.1. Instructional Strategies: Provide tools such as Performance Task List, sample of completed assignment, and check with student for understanding throughout.

4.2. Formative assessment in the form of the "playing card" poster. Questions can be answered orally with another group member writing if the students with special needs have difficulty doing the written portion. They may also use other formats to demonstrate knowledge such as drawing.

5. English Language Learners

5.1. Instructional Strategies: Provide translation tools such as Google Translate, Performance Task List, Sample of Completed work, Pair in a group with bilingual student

5.2. Formative assessment in the form of the "playing card" poster. Questions can be answered orally with another group member writing if the ELLs have difficulty doing the written portion. They may also use other formats to demonstrate knowledge such as drawing.
