1. The Matching Process ⦁ The caseworker, now familiar with the volunteer and the children and youth waiting to be matched, discusses a potential match with the volunteer, the child or youth, and, depending on the program, with the family ⦁ The caseworker arranges for a meeting between the child or youth, the volunteer mentor, and often the parent or guardian ⦁ If everyone agrees, the match can begin!

2. Services and Programs The Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentoring program usually requires two regularly scheduled outings a month of several hours each and a minimum of 1 year commitment. The program strives to do the following: ⦁ provide a role model and a friend for girls and boys ⦁ promote the importance of staying in school and healthy relationships with family and peers ⦁ instill trust and self-confidence in order to make healthy decisions ⦁ encourage leadership skills and independent thinking ⦁ and above all, make a difference while having fun

3. Equity, Inclusion, Cultural Diversity Big Brothers Big Sisters believes every child should have the opportunity to reach his or her full potential, both as individuals and citizens - that by doing so, they will not only do well, they will also do good.

4. Vision: Every child who needs a mentor has a mentor. Mission: The agency commits to Toronto's young people to be leaders in providing them with the highest quality, volunteer-based mentoring programs.
