1. EVALUATE the Results

1.1. If my choice had a positive result then I would've learned to stand up for myself in the future, and I would be more confident in myself. This result would definitely improve my emotional, social, and mental health.

1.2. If my choice had a negative result then I would probably end up with more self-doubt than before I tried to defend myself because of the embarrassment. This result would negatively impact my emotional, social, and mental health.

1.3. If my decision ended with a negative result, I would probably try telling a teacher/counselor about the bully.

2. DECIDE and Act

2.1. I would choose to stand up for myself because I value independence, assertiveness, and responsibility. This alternative allows me to take responsibility for solving my own problem, show independence for defending myself, and assertiveness for standing my ground.

3. EXPLORE the Alternatives

3.1. Tell a teacher/counselor

3.2. Ask a friend to defend you

3.3. Stand up for yourself

3.4. Try to ignore and avoid the bully

4. CONSIDER the Consequences

4.1. Tell a teacher/counselor:

4.1.1. Positive: The bully will listen to the adult and stop bullying me. I wouldn't have to stand up to the bully on my own.

4.1.2. Negative: The bully now has another reason to tease me for because I couldn't defend myself. The bully will also threaten or mock me for being a tattle tale.

4.2. Ask a friend to defend you:

4.2.1. Positive: More people will start to defend me and the bully will back off to avoid conflict with multiple people.

4.2.2. Negative: The bully makes fun of me for being weak because I needed someone else to defend me. Or the bully might start picking on the friend as well.

4.3. Stand up for yourself:

4.3.1. Positive: The bully will see that I'm not afraid of him/her and that I'm capable of standing my ground, so they will leave me alone.

4.3.2. Negative: It will have no effect on the bully, and it will lead them to bully me harsher than they did before to show that I'm weaker than them.

4.4. Try to ignore and avoid the bully:

4.4.1. Positive: The bully will see this as their teasing being ineffective and will eventually stop bothering me.

4.4.2. Negative: The bully will continue to torment me anyway and sooner or later they will get the best of me.
