1. Formative

1.1. Definition: The goal of formative assessments is to collect detailed information that can be used to improve instruction as well as student's learning throughout the lesson.

1.1.1. Examples: Exit Tickets, Journal entires.

2. Summative

2.1. Definition: Summative assessments are used to evaluate academic achievement at the end of a defined period- 6 weeks, end of unit, semester, end of year.

2.1.1. Examples: STAAR test, Unit test

3. Diagonostic

3.1. Definition: Diagnostic assessment is a form of pre-assessment that allows teachers to determine students' individual strengths/ weaknesses, and knowledge before teaching a lesson.

3.1.1. Examples: Pre-assessment, multiple choice quiz (ungraded)

4.2. Guided:

5. Performance

5.1. Definition: Performance assessments are a form of testing that requires students to perform a task.

5.1.1. Examples: Science project, perform a drama, complete a poster, dress up as a character.

6. Interim

6.1. Definition: Interim assessment is a form of assessment that evaluates where students are in their learning progress and helps decide whether they are on track to perform well on future assessments. (Like summative assessments)

6.1.1. Examples:Bencharks, multiple choice and open ended questions together.

7. RTI:

7.4. Strategies to implement for RTI students: Pull small group for reteach of content. Conference with students during journal writing time and allow students to prove nouns/verbs in their writing with the given proof statements.
