1. 1) Integrate 21st century skills into student learning at Harlem Middle School.

1.1. Media Specialist will teach a series of four lessons aligned with content standards, one each quarter, to instruct students on the four strands within the Standards for the 21st Century Learner during the course of one school year.

1.1.1. Students will complete a pre-assessment at the beginning of the year and a post-assessment at the end of the year, given by the media specialist, including questions relating to the four strands and 21st century skills.

1.2. Media specialist will provide virtual and interactive staff development during pre planning where the Standards for the 21st Century Learner are specifically explained and given to teacher to reference when planning instruction.

1.2.1. Staff will answer prompt in Google Classroom created for professional development stating one standard they are already using that they can include in their lesson plans and one standard they need further explanation on.

1.3. Through collaborative planning with the media specialist, teachers will integrate Standards for the 21st Century Learner into their lessons, one time during each semester at minimum.

1.3.1. Collaboratively created lesson plans must include Standards for the 21st Century Learner at least twice. Media Specialist will collect lesson plans including Standards for the 21st Century Learner from teachers at the end of each semester.

2. 3) Develop staff knowledge on the legal and ethical use of information.

2.1. Media specialist will provide staff development once during the school year where legal and ethical use of information are specifically explained. The information will be divided up and using the Jigsaw strategy staff members will present the information to each other.

2.1.1. Posters will be created by each “expert” group during the staff development. These posters will be collected and evaluated by the media specialist after the staff development.

3. 2) Utilize collaborative planning with teachers as a way in which to improve student achievement.

3.1. Media Specialist will collaboratively plan for 45 minutes with each content area and each grade level once a month for the 2018-2019 school year.

3.1.1. Planning minutes are kept as record for what planning had been accomplished. These minutes are to be updated monthly by the media specialist and shared with administration.

3.2. Students will show three percent growth from the previous year’s GA Milestone assessment for English Language Arts.

3.2.1. Media Specialist will analyze student achievement on the specific standards addressed through collaborative planning to ensure three percent growth occurred.

5. 4) Integrate technology that can improve instruction in the classroom through staff development provided by the Media Specialist.

5.1. Media specialist will provide staff development quarterly during the school year, virtually through the use of video, in which new technology applicable to the classroom is explained and modeled.

5.1.1. Staff development exit survey taken by all staff at the end of the session. Each survey needs to be specific to the new technology shown. Survey will be given through Google, both the video and the survey will be linked on the Google Classroom for professional development. Media specialist will compile data after each virtual session.

5.2. Utilize collaborative planning as a time in which to introduce new technology applicable to certain content areas or grade levels, at least one time a month for the current school year.

5.2.1. Planning minutes are kept as record for what technology had been shared. These minutes are to be updated monthly by the media specialist and shared with administration.

5.3. Cooperative teaching, at least four time a semester, is to enhance student learning and achievement by teaching lessons aligned to content standards and used as a time to instruct students how to utilize technologies and the 21st century skills needed to fully utilize it.

5.3.1. Lesson plans for cooperative teaching are kept as records by media specialist and shared with administration at the end of each semester. Administration will also use cooperative teaching lessons to evaluate media Specialist according the the evaluation tool set in place by Columbia County Board of Education. This evaluation will happen once a semester.
