Carbon Cycle in High rock Lake

1. 1) Carbon dioxcide enters the atmosphere through respiration and combustion

2. 2) The carbon is then absorbed by the algae and seaweed/grass (the producers) and is used to make carbohydrates in photosynthesis.

3. 3) The fish/animals in the lake will feed on the plant passing the carbon compounds along the food chain. The majority of the carbon that they consumed is exhaled as carbon dioxide formed during respiration.

4. 4)The animals and plants will eventually die

5. 5) The decomposers will then eat the dead organisms. The carbon that was in their bodies will be released back into the atmosphere as carbon dioxide.

6. 6) The plant and animal material may then be available as fossil fuel in the future for combustion.
