9. John Adams was intellectual and didn't fit in well. Intellectuals believed that God started creation and then stepped back.Adams was a very moral man.

10. Sam Adams is John's second cousin. He is very significant. Closest to Evangelicalism today. He was an outspoken Christian.

11. Thomas Jefferson was a man of massive contradictions. Born into privilege but very down to earth. He says he hates slavery but never releases his own slaves. Had an affair with a slave woman and hides his secret family away. Believed in Deism and created his own Bible.

12. Ben Franklin was known to be a philanderer, had many affairs and did not live a moral lifestyle. He believed in Deism.

13. George Washington was a very private man. Very moral man. He hate swearing and went to n episcopal church. Washington did not participate in communion. His followers wouldn't participate either. He believed in a God but never talks of Christ. Washington was probably a deist.

14. These men lived in a society were this type of moralism was the norm. They often quoted scripture but does not mean they were "Christians."
