1. Reason (Razón).- Se expresa la causa mediante los siguientes nexos

1.1. Because

1.1.1. Va seguido de una oración (con sujeto y verbo)

1.1.1.1. BECAUSE + CLAUSE

1.1.1.1.1. Example: We moved to another city because my father got a new job.

1.2. Because of

1.2.1. Va seguido del nombre

1.2.1.1. BECAUSE+OF+NOUN

1.2.1.1.1. Example: We moved to another city because of my father’s new job.

1.3. As/since

1.3.1. Van al principio de la frase

1.3.1.1. Example: As it is your birthday, I’ll lend you my best clothes.

2. Conjunciones y adverbios

3. Purpose (Propósito).- Este tipo de oraciones expresa la finalidad, el por qué alguien hace algo

3.1. To + infinitivo

3.1.1. Example: I went to the university to talk to one of my teachers

3.2. In order to

3.2.1. Example: I went to the university in order to talk to one of my so as to teachers. (more formal)

3.3. For + noun

3.3.1. Example: A knife is used for cutting

4. Resultado (Result).- podemos expresar la consecuencia mediante los siguientes nexos:

4.1. So

4.1.1. Example: She was ill so she couldn’t take the exam

4.2. As a result / therefore

4.2.1. Example: I failed my English test. Therefore, I took it again in September.

5. De tiempo (Time).- Los nexos más usuales que introducen este tipo de oraciones son:

5.1. When / as

5.1.1. Example: I’ll phone you when I know the answer

5.2. While

5.2.1. Example: While I was watching TV, the telephone rang

5.3. As soon as

5.3.1. Example: I’ll phone you as soon as I know the answer

5.4. Before / after

5.4.1. Example: The train had left before they got to the station

5.5. Until

5.5.1. We were waiting until she arrived

6. De contraste.- Los nexos que introducen este tipo de oraciones concesivas son los siguientes.

6.1. Although / even though / though

6.1.1. Van seguidos de una oración

6.1.1.1. ALTHOUGH / EVEN THOUGH / THOUGH + CLAUSE

6.1.1.1.1. Example: Although he didn’t have money, he bought the most expensive car.

6.2. In spite of / Despite

6.2.1. Van seguidos de nombre o un verbo sustantivado (en – ing)

6.2.1.1. IN SPITE OF / DESPITE + NOUN / -ING FORM

6.2.1.1.1. Example: In spite of not having money, he bought the most expensive car.

6.3. However, nevertheless, yet

6.3.1. Example: She didn’t want to have more children. However, she might change her mind.

6.4. While y whereas

6.4.1. Example: He is lively and easygoing whereas his sister is rather shy

7. ¿Qué es?

7.1. Son aquellas en las que aparecen dos cláusulas que están relacionadas, puesto que una depende de la otra para darle sentido a la oración.

8.1. CLAUSULA PRINCIPAL+UNA CONJUNCIÓN SUBORDINADA +UNA CLAUSULA DEPENDIENTE
