Individual work #6 (Joana Malay) por Mind Map: Individual work #6 (Joana Malay)

1. Anna Wintour, on whom Miranda is supposedly based, was at first skeptical of the film but later came to appreciate it.

2. On the first day of filming, Meryl Streep told Anne Hathaway "I think you're perfect for the role. I'm so happy we're going to be working together." Then she paused and followed it up with "That's the last nice thing I'll say to you." And it was.

3. Many fashion designers allowed their clothes and accessories to be used in the film, making it the most expensively-costumed film in history.

4. Anne Hathaway prepared for the part by volunteering for a week as an assistant at an auction house.

5. Runway is a fictitious version of Vogue.

6. In 2013, Lauren Weisberger published a sequel to the first novel, Revenge Wears Prada. Its set ten years after the first, where Andy Sachs is the editor of a wedding magazine and engaged to a man called Max; she later has a daughter with him, called Clementine Rose. Emily Charleton works with her now.

7. This surprisingly amusing movie uses its snide sarcasm to full effect to tell what ends up being a rather fashionable moral fable.

8. The Devil Wears Prada is a 2006 comedy-drama film based on Lauren Weisberger's 2003 novel of the same name.

9. This screen adaptation stars Anne Hathaway as Andrea Sachs, a college graduate who goes to New York City and lands a job as a co-assistant to powerful fashion magazine editor Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep.

10. Main characters

10.1. Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly: The editor-in-chief of Runway. Feared by her staff and many in the fashion world, and powerful enough that she can discard a $300,000 photo shoot with impunity and lead a designer to redo an entire collection with the pursing of her lips. Nevertheless, she cares a lot about her twin daughters.

10.2. Anne Hathaway as Andrea "Andy" Sachs: a recent Northwestern University graduate and aspiring journalist who, despite no real knowledge of fashion, is hired as the junior personal assistant to the powerful and demanding editor-in-chief of Runway magazine, Miranda Priestly.

10.2.1. Andrea changes her attitude and behavior, affecting her private life and the relationship with her boyfriend Nate, her family and friends. In the end, Andrea learns that life is made of choices.

10.3. Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton: Miranda's haughty senior assistant, who tolerates her boss's rudeness and insults so that she may accompany her to Paris for Fall Fashion Week.

10.4. Stanley Tucci as Nigel: Art director for Runway and the only person at the magazine Andrea feels she can trust, despite his sometimes cutting remarks about her wardrobe and weight.

11. It's amazing how much more alive the film is when it's concentrating on Andy's job. Her personal life and out-of-work relationships are boring. There's irony here, because the film's ultimate message is that no business is so important that it should trump interpersonal interests.
