2. Examples of A: - a stamp, a desk, a TV, a cup, a book. - I need a phone. - Mark wants a bicycle.

3. A: used before singular count nouns beginning with consonants (other than a, e, i, o, u). A is called indefinite article. "Indefinite" means "not specific". Use A(AN) when you are talking about a thing in general, NOT a specific thing.

4. The: Used to indicate a noun that is definite or has been previously specified in the context.  You can use THE with both singular nouns and plural nouns.
