1. Reason (Razon): Se expresa la causa.
1.1. Because(Porque), Because of(Por, debido a ): - BECAUSE + CLAUSE: We moved to another city because my father got a new job.(Nos mudamos a otra ciudad porque mi padre consiguió un nuevo trabajo.). - BECAUSE OF + NOUN: we moved to another city because of my fhater's new job. (Nos mudamos a otra ciudad debido al nuevo trabajo de mi padre).
1.2. As/ Since (como, puesto que): - As it is your birthdaym I'll lend you my best clothes. (Como es tu cumpleaños te presto mis mejores ropas.)
1.3. Owing to(debido a : We have less money to spent owing to budget cuts. (Tenemos menos dinero para gastar debido a recortes presupuestarios.)
1.4. For(para): She was looking all better for her stay in hospital. (Ella estaba buscando todo mejor por su estancia en el hospital)
2. Contrast(Contraste)
2.1. Although, though, even though, while, whereas: -though can come at the end of a sentence(Aunque puede venir al final de una oración), - Although I asked her, she didn't come (Aunque le pregunté, ella no vino) - Even though I asked her, she didn't come.
2.2. However: It's sheap. Howeverm I don't like it (Es un montón. Sin embargo, no me gusta)
2.3. Nevertheless: Smith says he is oor. Nevertheless, he has bought a new car. (Smith dice que es nuestro. Sin embargo, él ha comprado un coche nuevo)
2.4. Despite and in spite of: Despite losing, we celebrated. In spite of the rain.(A pesar de perder, celebramos. A pesar de la lluvia.)
3. Purpose (proposito) : con este tipo se expresan la finalidad o el porque alguien hace algo.
3.1. So (that): The police locked the door so that no-one could get on. (La policía cerró la puerta con llave para que nadie pudiera seguir adelante)
3.2. Infinitive of pupose: Jack went England to study engineering, (Jack fue a Inglaterra para estudiar ingeniería)
3.3. In order to, so as to: Scientists used only local materials, in order to save money. (Los científicos sólo utilizaban materiales locales para ahorrar dinero.)
3.4. For: This button is for starting the engine.(Este botón sirve para arrancar el motor.)
4. Result (Resultado): En estas clausula se expresan las consecuencia.
4.1. So/such + adjective + that: Helen is such a busy person(that) she never feels bored. (Helen es una persona tan ocupada que nunca se siente aburrida.)
4.2. So much/many/few/little + noun + that: There were so many passengers (that) we couldn't find a seat. (Había muchos pasajeros (que) no pudimos encontrar un asiento.)
4.3. Too + adjective + to: The table was far too heavy to lift. (La mesa era demasiado pesada para levantar)
4.4. Not + adjective + enough: The table was not light enough to lift.
4.4.1. La mesa no era lo suficientemente ligera como para levantar
