1. Lucie Manette

1.1. In book 3 chapter 2 Lucie Manette and Doctor Manette arrive at La Force prison to help Charles from a mob planning to kill all the prisoners.

1.1.1. In chapter 3 Lucie and her daughter leave to a lodge where it is safe. As Mr. Lorry leaves to Tellson's Bank he receives a letter from Manette that says "Charles is safe, but I cannot safely leave this place yet, I have favour that the bearer has a short note from Charles to his wife"(243). Lead Defarge to Lucie. When they meet Lucie she pleads mercy for Charles.

1.1.1.1. In chapter 5 Lucie is told to stand in a window every day so Charles can see her during his trial.

1.2. In chapter 7 Lucie rejoices that Charles is free and says "I HAVE SAVED HIM"(264). Later on Lucie receives a knock at the door. At the door are four soldiers demanding a rearrest for Darnay.

2. Charles Darnay

2.1. In book 3 chapter 1 Charles Darnay returns to Paris and is found by the revolutionaries and is put "into a dreary courtyard, he arrived at the prison of La Force"( Dickens 232). In the prison Darnay asked for help by Defarge but she refused.

2.1.1. In chapter 2 Charles is still in prison when Lucie and Doctor Manette show up to help.

2.2. In chapter 6 Charles is on trial and gives his testimonies to the judge. Later the judge frees him and a crowd takes him home.

2.2.1. In chapter 7 Darnay is rearrested from "four rough men in red caps, armed with sabres and pistols"(267).

3. Madame Defarge

3.1. In book 3 chapter 3 Defarge and Madame Defarge go to Tellson's Bank in Paris and give Lucie a note from Darnay. Lucie begs Madame Defarge to show mercy to Darnay but she coldly responds that the revolution will not stop for the sake of Lucie and her family.

3.1.1. In chapter 5 near the end Dr. Manatte and Madame Defarge exchanges solutes and tells Manatte that Darnay will be tried later that day and assures her that her husband will fare well in it.

3.1.1.1. In chapter 8 Darnay is re-arrested after he is let go because Madame Defarge, Defarge, and one other individual. They sacrifice Darnay.

4. Sydney Carton

4.1. In book 3 chapter 8 Sydney Carton reveals that he has been in Paris for a day and he threatens to reveal Barsad true identity to revolutionaries unless the spy accompanies Carton to Tellson's Bank.

4.1.1. In chapter 9 Carton wanders the streets of Paris and thinks about Lucie.He then buys a substance from a chemist shop. Throughout the night Carton helps a small girl across the muddy streets and she gives him a kiss.
